LeaseTrace is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that focuses on one expensive, messy corner of IT asset management: leased and financed hardware. It ingests lease schedules and invoices, links them to real devices via barcode/QR scans and MDM/endpoint exports, and flags mismatches like “invoice says 120 laptops, you can only prove 93 exist.” It tracks end-of-lease dates, buyout options, and return requirements, then generates a return pack list with chain-of-custody logs and photo evidence to reduce dispute fees. This is not a full ITAM suite; it’s a narrow, finance-aligned layer that plugs into existing tools. Expect some manual cleanup early on—lease data is ugly—but the payoff is preventing recurring overbilling, missed returns, and surprise penalties that quietly drain budgets.
