LexiField

LexiField is a mobile + web app that helps linguists and community teams record, label, and safely archive endangered language audio in the field—without needing reliable internet. The mobile app focuses on fast, structured capture: speaker profile, consent, location (optional), prompt lists, and high-quality audio. When connectivity returns, recordings sync to a web dashboard where teams can review, segment clips, add translations, and export clean packages for archives or researchers. An AI-assisted mode can generate rough time-aligned transcripts and suggested glosses when enough prior data exists, but it’s explicitly positioned as “draft-only” and usable even when AI quality is poor. The business model is institutional subscriptions (universities, museums, language programs) plus optional managed storage and archiving support. The honest pitch: this succeeds by removing workflow friction and data loss, not by promising perfect AI for low-resource languages.
