LienShield is a web + mobile app that helps homeowners and small contractors prevent payment disputes and surprise mechanic’s liens during home improvement projects. It creates a simple, step-by-step “paper trail” for each job: contract versioning, change orders, progress photos, milestone approvals, and payment releases. The app also prompts users to collect the right documents at the right time (W-9/COI, subcontractor lists, conditional/unconditional lien waivers) and stores them in a shareable project vault. It’s not a magic legal solution—laws vary by state and users still need to follow local rules—but it dramatically reduces the chaos that causes disputes. The MVP focuses on clean workflows and reminders rather than trying to fully automate permitting. If you can make lien waiver collection and milestone sign-off dead simple, users will stick with it.
