LightScout

LightScout helps cinematographers and gaffers plan exterior lighting with fewer wasted scouts. It combines precise sun-path data with a simple 3D blocking tool so you can preview where shadows will fall at specific times and dates, then export a practical shot/lighting plan. The app is not magic: it won’t replace a real location scout or solve complex bounce/negative fill decisions. But it will reliably answer the questions crews constantly argue about—when a window will blow out, when a street goes into shade, and whether a planned move crosses into harsh sun. Users can pin a location, drop rough building/obstacle shapes, set subject height, and generate a “best time to shoot” window with notes. It also outputs a shareable PDF for production and a call-sheet-friendly schedule snippet.
