LineItemLens
LineItemLens is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that turns messy government budget PDFs, spreadsheets, and portal exports into a searchable, comparable database of spending line items. Users can track a program across years, agencies, and vendors, flag sudden budget spikes, and see where money actually goes (contracts, grants, payroll categories when available). The app focuses on practical workflows: upload a document, auto-extract tables, map to standardized categories, and generate a shareable “spending brief” with citations back to the original source. It’s built for people who don’t have time to become procurement experts but still need defensible answers. It will not magically “solve corruption”; data quality is uneven and some jurisdictions publish poorly. The value is speed, traceability, and consistent normalization so analysis is repeatable.
