MARCWatch

MARCWatch is a web app (with optional desktop connector) that continuously audits a library’s bibliographic and holdings data for high-impact issues: broken links, duplicate bibs, invalid MARC fields, mismatched item statuses, bad call number patterns, and discovery-layer display problems. It connects read-only to common ILS/LSP exports and APIs, runs scheduled checks, and produces a prioritized “fix queue” with exact record IDs and suggested edits. A lightweight AI layer summarizes patterns (e.g., “Vendor X records missing 856$u”) and drafts batch-fix scripts, but the librarian stays in control with approval workflows. This is not a replacement ILS; it’s a quality-control layer that reduces patron-facing errors and staff time spent hunting down inconsistencies. Realistically, it wins by being narrow, measurable, and easy to trial: import a sample export, show issues in minutes, and prove time saved within a week.
