MatsuriMap

MatsuriMap is a mobile + web app that aggregates Shinto shrine events and local matsuri into a single, searchable calendar with maps, reminders, and practical attendance info. The core problem is that event details are scattered across shrine websites, PDFs, posters, and Japanese-only social posts—tourists and even locals miss events or show up at the wrong time. The app focuses on accuracy over hype: verified listings, last-updated timestamps, and clear disclaimers when details are unconfirmed. Users can filter by date, region, type (seasonal festival, purification, special goshuin day), accessibility, and crowd level. Shrines get a lightweight admin page to post updates without needing a full website overhaul. Monetization is realistic: premium alerts, offline packs for travelers, and paid “verified shrine” profiles (not pay-to-rank).
