MatTrace

MatTrace is a web + desktop (Electron) lab data system built specifically for materials science workflows where samples, processing steps, and characterization outputs get scattered across spreadsheets and instrument PCs. It tracks a sample from synthesis to heat treatments to characterization (XRD, SEM/EDS, DSC/TGA, tensile, etc.) with a simple “process graph” and automatic file capture from instrument export folders. It’s a traditional app with light AI: AI-assisted metadata extraction from filenames/PDF reports and quick summaries of run conditions, but it does not pretend to “discover new materials.” The core value is traceability and reproducibility: every dataset is linked to the exact sample, batch, operator, and processing recipe. Expect a tough sales cycle in academia and conservative industry labs, so the product must be dead-simple, fast, and cheaper than enterprise ELNs.
