MeltPulse

MeltPulse is a web + mobile AI app that turns messy cryosphere data into actionable risk signals for operations near glaciers and ice-fed rivers. It ingests near-real-time satellite products (snow/ice extent, surface temperature proxies), public hydrology feeds, and local weather forecasts to estimate short-term meltwater surges and flag conditions associated with glacier lake outburst flood (GLOF) risk. Users set geofenced assets (roads, bridges, hydropower intakes, camps, villages) and receive simple, defensible alerts with confidence bands, data provenance, and “why this alert fired.” The app is not a research tool; it’s a decision-support dashboard with audit trails for incident reporting. It also supports low-connectivity workflows: cached maps, SMS/email alerts, and offline checklists. Realistically, it won’t predict every event, but it can reduce surprise and shorten response time when conditions deteriorate.
