MemeRights

MemeRights is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that helps creators, community managers, and journalists trace the origin and spread of memes, screenshots, and viral clips across major platforms. Users upload an image/video frame or paste a link; the app generates a “provenance timeline” showing earliest known appearances, repost clusters, and likely source communities. It also flags common manipulations (cropping, re-captioning, re-encoding) so you can see how the content evolved. The product is not a magic truth machine: coverage will be incomplete due to private accounts, deleted posts, and API limits. But for public content, it can save hours of manual searching and reduce embarrassing misattribution. Monetization targets pros: subscriptions for higher search volume, exportable reports, and team workspaces, plus an enterprise tier for agencies and newsrooms.
