MenuCarbon

MenuCarbon is a web app (with a lightweight mobile view) that helps independent restaurants add credible carbon-footprint labels to their menu items without hiring consultants. Restaurants import recipes from POS/exported spreadsheets, then map ingredients to a transparent emissions database and get per-dish estimates with confidence ranges (not fake precision). The app generates a customer-facing QR menu page and printable labels, plus a back-office dashboard showing the top emissions drivers and the cheapest swaps (e.g., dairy, beef, air-freighted produce). It’s a combination traditional + AI app: AI assists with ingredient normalization, portion guessing from recipe text, and flagging likely high-impact items, but the core calculations are rules-based and auditable. The product is brutally practical: it won’t promise perfect numbers; it will promise defensible numbers and simple actions that reduce footprint and cost.
