MenuMistral

MenuMistral is a mobile app (iOS/Android) that helps travelers and expats navigate French dining in real time. Point your camera at a menu and it translates accurately while preserving culinary meaning (e.g., cuts, preparations, sauces), flags common “gotchas” (andouillette, abats, raw-milk cheeses), and suggests what to order based on your preferences and dietary constraints. It also estimates price fairness by comparing typical local ranges for similar dishes in that city and neighborhood, helping users spot overpriced tourist menus. The app includes a compact etiquette coach (tipping norms, how to ask for substitutions politely, how to request wine by the glass) and a phrasebook tuned for restaurants. It’s an AI app + traditional app: AI for vision/translation and dish understanding, traditional for saved places, offline packs, and curated regional dish notes. Brutal truth: it only works if accuracy is excellent and coverage is broad.
