MigrateWatch

MigrateWatch is a mobile + web app that helps birders and nature enthusiasts track animal migration and behavior in near-real time. Users see a map of migration “nowcasts” (e.g., birds, butterflies) built from public data sources (radar-derived migration intensity, weather, seasonality) and community sightings. The app nudges users when conditions are favorable in their area, then makes it easy to log a sighting with location, species, behavior notes, and optional photos. A lightweight AI layer suggests likely species from time/location plus photo-assisted ID, but it’s designed to be conservative and transparent to avoid misinformation. The core value is turning scattered data into a simple “go/no-go” decision tool for when and where to look, while building a personal migration journal and contributing to citizen science exports (e.g., eBird-style CSV).
