MilestoneBay is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that adds milestone-based escrow and proof workflows to crowdfunding campaigns. Creators define 3–8 deliverables (e.g., prototype video, certification, first production run) with clear acceptance criteria and dates. Backers pledge into escrow, and funds unlock per milestone after evidence is submitted and verified. Verification is a mix: automated checks (document authenticity signals, metadata, supplier invoice validation) plus optional paid human reviewers for higher tiers. If a milestone fails or times out, backers can vote to extend, renegotiate, or trigger partial refunds based on remaining escrow. The app generates standardized updates, risk disclosures, and a “trust score” that reflects delivery history across campaigns. This is not a magic fraud eliminator—bad actors exist—but it meaningfully reduces the most common pain: paying upfront for vague promises with little accountability.
