MockSmith

MockSmith is a web app + CLI that records real service interactions during dev/staging runs and turns them into deterministic unit-test fixtures and mocks. Instead of hand-writing brittle mocks, it captures request/response pairs, headers, timing, and edge cases, then produces language-specific mock servers or in-process stubs with stable contracts. It also detects flaky fixture sources (timestamps, random IDs, locale, ordering) and automatically normalizes them with explicit rules you can review. The product is a combination traditional + AI: traditional capture/replay and contract generation, plus AI-assisted suggestions for normalization rules and missing edge cases. Realistically, this won’t replace good test design; it’s best for teams drowning in integration-heavy codebases where unit tests are blocked by mocking complexity. It integrates with CI to fail builds when captured interactions drift beyond allowed tolerances.
