ModeBudget

ModeBudget is a mobile + web budgeting app that lets users run multiple budgeting methods on the same real transaction data—zero-based, envelope, 50/30/20, pay-yourself-first, and “anti-budget.” Most apps force you into one philosophy; this one helps you find what actually sticks. Connect accounts, then toggle “modes” to see how each method would allocate your next paycheck and what rules you’d need to follow to stay on track. It includes a lightweight “friction tracker” that logs where you quit (categorizing, weekly reviews, overspending alerts) so the app can recommend a simpler mode or fewer categories. It’s an AI + traditional hybrid: AI suggests category simplifications and rule tweaks, but the core math is deterministic and transparent. The goal is not perfect budgeting—it’s sustainable behavior with minimal setup and fewer restarts.
