MothMeter

MothMeter is a mobile + web app for hobbyists and small conservation groups who run light traps and want their records to be scientifically usable. Users log a session (location, light type, weather, duration), then add species counts with quick search and offline support. The app produces standardized exports (Darwin Core style CSV) that can be submitted to local recording schemes or shared with researchers. It includes a simple “confidence” field and photo attachment per species to reduce garbage data. This is not a magical species-ID app; it’s a disciplined logging tool that makes good data easier than messy notes. A lightweight AI assistant can suggest likely species lists based on region/season and flag suspicious entries (e.g., out-of-range species), but the user remains the final authority. The goal is reliable, repeatable monitoring, not viral content.
