NearClause

NearClause is a web app that turns messy “find things near other things” requests into correct, optimized PostGIS SQL. Analysts and developers paste a natural-language question (e.g., “stores within 10 minutes of schools but outside flood zones”) and select their tables/columns. The app generates parameterized SQL, explains assumptions (units, CRS, geography vs geometry), and warns about common foot-guns like unindexed spatial joins or mixed SRIDs. It also provides a quick preview using sampled data so users can sanity-check results before running expensive jobs. This is not a full GIS platform; it’s a focused query assistant that saves time, reduces errors, and helps teams standardize spatial query patterns. Expect some manual review—spatial edge cases are real—but it should cut query drafting time dramatically for common workflows.
