NitrateNow

NitrateNow is a web + mobile app for quickly screening groundwater nitrate risk and organizing follow-up sampling. It combines public datasets (well logs where available, land use, fertilizer application proxies, soil permeability, depth-to-water estimates, and known contamination reports) into a simple risk map and a ranked list of wells/areas to test next. Field teams can create sampling plans, navigate to sites, capture chain-of-custody notes, and upload lab results to track trends over time. The app is realistic about uncertainty: it shows confidence bands, data gaps, and “do not infer” warnings when inputs are weak. This is not a regulatory permitting tool; it’s a decision-support layer that helps small utilities, county health departments, and consultants move from scattered spreadsheets and PDFs to a repeatable workflow. Optional AI assists with summarizing site history and generating plain-language notices for residents.
