NutrientNudge

NutrientNudge is a mobile + web app that helps farms and watershed groups close the nutrient feedback loop between fields and nearby water. It combines low-cost nitrate/phosphate sensor readings (from partner devices or manual test strips) with rainfall and field activity logs to estimate when and where nutrient losses likely occurred. The app then recommends practical, non-idealized actions: adjust application timing, add buffer strips in specific spots, or prioritize a problem field for soil testing. It produces simple “before/after” trend reports that co-ops and conservation programs can accept as evidence for cost-share or compliance documentation. This is not a magic model: it’s a decision support tool that improves as users contribute local observations and calibrations. The core value is faster feedback than annual lab reports, without requiring expensive consulting.
