O-Scout
O-Scout is a mobile + web app that helps orienteering clubs and mappers pre-check course legs for fairness before race day. Instead of post-race analysis, it focuses on preventing bad legs: overly vague control sites, hidden uncrossable features, misleading vegetation boundaries, and “gotcha” route choices caused by outdated mapping. Users walk or run candidate legs while the app records GPS, speed, stops, and optional voice notes; then it generates a simple “leg risk report” with flagged segments and a shareable checklist for the course setter and mapper. It’s not trying to replace professional mapping software—just to make field verification faster and more consistent. Realistically, adoption depends on clubs caring about quality control, but those that do will save time, reduce complaints, and run better events with fewer surprises.
