OALicenseLens

OALicenseLens is a web app (with a lightweight browser extension) that scans open-access articles and repository PDFs to extract, verify, and summarize reuse rights in plain language. It detects Creative Commons variants, publisher-specific licenses, and missing/contradictory statements by checking embedded metadata, landing pages, and Crossref/Unpaywall signals. Users get a “Can I reuse this?” answer for common actions (share with class, post on website, translate, text-mine, include figures) plus a citation-ready attribution snippet. Libraries can upload lists of DOIs/URLs to audit their institutional repository for license completeness and generate fix lists for metadata staff. This is an AI-assisted app: AI helps interpret messy license text and produce human-readable guidance, but the app always shows the source evidence and confidence level to avoid hallucinated legal claims.
