OilSense

OilSense is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that helps home cooks and small food businesses manage oils and condiments by freshness, storage conditions, and usage. Users scan barcodes or search products, then log open date, storage location (pantry/fridge), and container type. The app estimates “best-by-after-opening” windows using product category rules and user-entered conditions, then sends reminders before quality drops. It also flags common quality issues (rancidity, separation, mold risk) with quick symptom checklists and safe-disposal guidance. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional tracking and notifications, plus AI that reads labels/ingredient lists from photos to auto-fill product details and infer storage guidance. Realistically, this won’t be a mass-market hit; it’s a niche utility. But it can be a solid small subscription business if it nails reliability and minimal friction.
