OpenMethods

OpenMethods is a web app (with a lightweight desktop uploader) that helps researchers publish “methods packages” alongside papers: step-by-step protocols, parameter files, instrument settings, code snippets, and validation checks. It guides users through a structured template, auto-generates a clean methods PDF/HTML, and produces a citation-ready record with versioning. The AI component suggests missing details (e.g., sample sizes, randomization notes, reagent catalog numbers) and flags ambiguity, but it never fabricates values—everything must be confirmed. Integrations target real workflows: GitHub/GitLab for code, OSF/Zenodo for archiving, and DOI linking. The goal is not to replace journals; it’s to make “what exactly did you do?” publishable in a standardized, reusable format that labs can actually follow. Expect adoption first in computational and wet-lab groups that already feel the pain of irreproducible methods sections.
