OralVault

OralVault is a mobile + web app that helps families and local heritage groups capture, organize, and preserve oral histories with minimal friction. The app guides an interview with simple prompts, records high-quality audio, and automatically generates a transcript, summary, and searchable topics. Users can tag people, places, and dates, attach photos of artifacts, and export a “family archive” package for long-term storage. Privacy is the default: recordings can be kept private, shared via invite-only links, or donated to participating local archives. It’s not a genealogy app and it’s not a social network; it’s a practical preservation tool. Realistically, the biggest challenge is getting people to actually do the interviews—so the product focuses on reminders, short session formats (10–15 minutes), and a clear end result users can hold onto and share.
