OrdinanceKit is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that helps residents, contractors, and county staff determine which regulations apply to a specific unincorporated property—without guessing which department to call. Users enter an address or drop a pin, then the app returns a plain-language “rule packet” covering common needs: permits, setbacks, septic/well requirements, burn bans, short-term rentals, animal/livestock rules, road maintenance responsibility, and relevant contacts. It links each summary to the source ordinance section and the latest county/city/state documents. It also flags “high-risk ambiguity” cases (e.g., special districts, overlapping fire authority) and generates a checklist of next steps. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional GIS + document ingestion, with AI used to summarize and keep guidance readable, not to invent rules.
