ORHandOff

ORHandOff is a mobile + web app that standardizes intraoperative-to-PACU/ICU handoffs with specialty-specific checklists and auto-generated summaries. Teams capture key items in under 60 seconds: procedure performed, critical events, airway/lines/drains, antibiotics, fluids/blood loss, implants, specimens, postop orders, and “watch-outs.” The app supports quick tap-to-complete flows, voice dictation, and photo capture of implant stickers/specimen labels (with strict access controls). It produces a structured handoff note that can be pasted or transmitted into the EHR via HL7/FHIR where available, and it timestamps who said what to reduce ambiguity. This is not glamorous, and adoption is hard, but missed handoff details are a real, recurring source of complications, delays, and blame. The MVP focuses on one service line (e.g., ortho or general surgery) and one hospital unit to prove time saved and error reduction.
