OrthoForge

OrthoForge helps endangered-language communities and linguists rapidly design, test, and publish a practical orthography (writing system) that people will actually use. It guides teams through alphabet choices, sound-to-letter mapping, diacritics, and spelling rules, then stress-tests decisions with real-world tasks: texting, signage, school worksheets, and social posts. An AI assistant can suggest consistent spellings from recorded words and flag conflicts, but every change requires human approval and a transparent decision log. The app exports ready-to-print orthography guides, keyboard layouts, and a lightweight spelling checker wordlist. This is not a magic “save the language” tool; it’s a pragmatic workflow product that reduces months of meetings and messy documents into a structured process. It’s designed for low-connectivity environments with offline-first editing and simple sharing for elders and teachers.
