OutageAtlas

OutageAtlas is a mobile + web AI app that helps households and small businesses anticipate power and internet outages during extreme weather (heat waves, ice storms, hurricanes, wind events). Instead of generic storm maps, it produces a neighborhood-level “outage likelihood” score using public weather forecasts, historical outage patterns, vegetation/wind exposure, and utility infrastructure proxies (where available). Users get a short checklist tailored to their situation (medical devices, sump pumps, refrigeration, remote work) and a timeline of when to charge batteries, refill water, or relocate. During an event, it switches to a lightweight status mode: users can report outages, see nearby reports, and find open resources (cooling centers, charging spots) from verified sources. Be realistic: accuracy will never be perfect, so the app focuses on probabilities, transparency, and actionable prep steps rather than promises.
