OutageLedger

OutageLedger is a mobile + web app that helps communities document electricity reliability in places where utilities, mini-grids, or landlords deny problems or where regulators lack data. Users log outages with one tap; the app automatically captures timestamp, coarse location, and optional evidence (photo of meter, inverter status, or a short audio note). It works offline and syncs when connectivity returns. A community dashboard aggregates reports into simple reliability metrics (hours available, outage frequency, peak-time failures) that can be exported as regulator-ready PDFs or shared with operators to trigger maintenance. The app also supports “verification circles” where multiple nearby users confirm the same outage to reduce false reports. This is not magic: it won’t fix the grid. But it can make poor reliability visible, measurable, and harder to ignore—especially for NGOs, local governments, and mini-grid operators trying to prioritize upgrades.
