OutageProof
OutageProof is a mobile + web app that confirms and maps utility outages (power, water, internet) using real-world signals instead of vague utility updates. Users opt in to share lightweight telemetry (battery charging state, Wi‑Fi connectivity, modem reachability, and optional smart plug pings) to anonymously verify whether a block is actually down. The app aggregates reports into a neighborhood-level outage map with confidence scores, estimated restoration windows, and “what to do now” checklists (food safety, water boil notices, device charging). For property managers and small businesses, it provides alerts, incident logs, and exportable reports for tenants/insurance. It’s an AI-assisted app (for anomaly detection and restoration ETA modeling) but the core value is verified, crowdsourced truth. Brutal reality: you’ll need enough density in each city to be useful, and utilities won’t cooperate at first.
