OutbreakDesk is a web + mobile app for local public health departments to manage outbreak investigations without drowning in spreadsheets and email. It centralizes case intake (from call center, web forms, and CSV imports), contact tracing assignments, symptom timelines, exposure locations, and follow-up schedules. The AI layer helps de-duplicate records, flag likely clusters by time/location, and generate plain-language situation reports for leadership and partner agencies. It also provides a lightweight public-facing link for self-reporting symptoms/exposures and receiving next-step guidance, while keeping PHI access restricted to authorized staff. This is not a replacement for state systems; it’s a practical “last mile” operations tool for counties and cities that need speed, audit trails, and consistent workflows during flu/COVID surges, foodborne outbreaks, or school-based clusters.
