PackAudit

PackAudit is a mobile app (with optional web planning) that helps hikers build lighter, safer packs by comparing their gear list against trip conditions and real-world outcomes. You enter your route basics (distance, elevation, temps, precipitation, remoteness), your personal profile (pace, cold tolerance, experience), and your current gear list with weights. The app flags redundancies, missing essentials, and “anxiety items” that add weight without meaningful safety benefit. After the hike, a quick debrief asks what you used, what you didn’t, and what failed—then it learns your patterns over time. It also supports offline checklists and a printable “gear manifest” for permits or group leaders. This isn’t a social trail app; it’s a practical packing decision tool aimed at reducing overpacking while avoiding dangerous underpacking.
