ParamiPay

ParamiPay is a mobile + web app for parametric microinsurance that pays out automatically when an objective trigger occurs (e.g., rainfall below threshold, wind speed above threshold, flight delay, heat index spike). Instead of users filing claims, the app links a policy to a location or event and uses trusted data sources to confirm the trigger and initiate payouts to mobile money or bank rails. It’s designed for low-premium, high-frequency risks where traditional claims handling is too expensive to be viable. The app includes simple policy purchase flows, transparent trigger definitions, payout status tracking, and multilingual, low-bandwidth UX. Realistically, success depends on partnering with an insurer/MGA and data providers; without those, it’s just a nice demo. The core value is reducing admin cost so microinsurance can actually be profitable at small ticket sizes.
