PassPhrase

PassPhrase is a cross-platform desktop app (with optional mobile companion) that makes strong file and folder encryption usable for normal people by centering everything around memorable passphrases and automatic key hygiene. Users pick a long passphrase, and the app derives keys using modern KDF settings, enforces safe defaults, and warns about weak choices without being obnoxious. It supports encrypting local folders, external drives, and “shared packages” you can send via email or any cloud provider—without trusting that provider. A built-in verifier lets recipients confirm integrity and authenticity before decrypting. The mobile companion can act as a second factor for decrypting (QR approval) and can store recovery codes offline. This is a traditional app (not AI) because cryptography should be deterministic, auditable, and boring. The goal is fewer foot-guns, fewer support tickets, and fewer “I lost my key” disasters.
