PastaProof is a mobile app that helps shoppers and small food businesses quickly sanity-check grains and pasta for freshness, storage damage, and likely cooking performance. Users scan a barcode, then answer a few fast prompts (purchase date, storage conditions, packaging type) and optionally snap photos of the product and dry pasta/grain. The app returns a simple risk score (stale, pantry moth risk, rancidity risk for whole grains), a recommended “use-by after opening” window, and best storage guidance (container type, freezer vs pantry). It also flags common red flags like torn seals, bulging bags, and suspicious dust/webbing. This is not a lab test; it’s a practical decision tool to reduce waste and avoid bad meals. Monetization is a low-cost subscription for advanced tracking, multi-household sharing, and small business inventory checks.
