PathPing

PathPing is a mobile + web app that reduces lost, delayed, or mislabeled surgical specimens by giving the OR and pathology a shared, time-stamped chain-of-custody. Staff scan a specimen label (barcode/QR) at key handoffs (OR table, runner pickup, pathology receipt), and the app flags missing steps, long dwell times, and mismatched patient/procedure metadata before the specimen disappears into the system. It generates a simple audit trail for incident review and quality reporting without trying to replace the LIS/EHR. Realistically, the value is operational: fewer phone calls, fewer re-collections, fewer never-events, and less time wasted hunting for “where is the specimen.” It integrates lightly via HL7/FHIR where available, but can run standalone for smaller hospitals that still rely on paper logs. This is a traditional app with optional AI for anomaly detection and predicted delays.
