PermitCanvas

PermitCanvas is a web + mobile app that helps artists, nonprofits, and city staff manage the messy, slow process of getting public art approved. It centralizes requirements (site photos, insurance, engineering notes, stakeholder letters), creates a step-by-step checklist by city/agency, and tracks status across reviewers with deadlines and reminders. Applicants upload documents once, reuse them across projects, and generate a clean “permit packet” PDF for submission. City reviewers get a lightweight portal to request changes, leave comments anchored to files, and maintain an audit trail. An AI assistant can pre-check submissions for missing items, flag common compliance issues (e.g., dimensions, materials, ADA clearance), and draft emails to stakeholders. The goal is not discovery or “art maps”—it’s reducing approval friction so projects actually get installed on time.
