PHEVLedger

Plug-in hybrid owners constantly guess whether they’re actually saving money because costs are split across electricity and fuel, and driving mode changes everything. PHEVLedger is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that automatically builds a “true cost per mile” ledger by trip: EV miles vs gas miles, kWh used, gallons used, charging sessions, and local energy prices. It connects to the car via an OBD-II dongle and pairs that with utility rate plans (including time-of-use) to estimate real charging cost, not just kWh. The app flags wasteful patterns (e.g., running in hybrid mode on short trips, charging at peak rates) and gives simple weekly actions like “charge after 9pm” or “use EV mode for errands under 8 miles.” It also generates exportable reports for reimbursement, taxes, or fleet policies.
