PhraseProof
PhraseProof is a writing companion that flags culturally risky wording in everyday English—especially in workplace messages—without pretending there is one “correct” way to speak. Paste an email, Slack message, customer reply, or job application text and it highlights phrases that commonly read as rude, passive-aggressive, too informal, too blunt, or legally risky across different English-speaking cultures (US/UK/India/Australia). It then offers 2–4 rewrites with clear labels like “more direct,” “more diplomatic,” or “more warm,” plus a one-line explanation of the potential misread. It’s not a grammar checker; it focuses on pragmatics: tone, politeness strategies, hedging, requests, refusals, and disagreement. The app also learns your preferred style and your org’s norms via a lightweight “house style” profile. Realistically, it wins only if it’s faster and less annoying than incumbents.
