PolicyProbe

PolicyProbe is a web app (with a lightweight browser extension) that audits websites and apps for information-ethics red flags: manipulative consent flows, excessive data collection, vague retention terms, third-party sharing, and misleading privacy language. It combines traditional rules-based checks with an AI model that summarizes privacy policies and flags contradictions between UI behavior and stated policy. Users run a scan, get a risk score, annotated screenshots, and a plain-English report they can share with legal, security, or procurement. The product is aimed at small and mid-sized organizations that can’t afford dedicated privacy engineering but still need to vet vendors quickly. It won’t replace a lawyer, and it won’t catch everything, but it will dramatically reduce the time spent on first-pass reviews and create a consistent, defensible paper trail for decisions.
