PolicyTags

PolicyTags is a web app (with optional CLI) that standardizes and enforces metadata for data sensitivity, retention, and ownership across modern data stacks. It connects to Snowflake/BigQuery/Redshift and common catalogs, scans schemas and sampled values, and proposes consistent tags like PII, PCI, PHI, internal-only, retention period, and data owner. Teams approve suggestions, then PolicyTags continuously monitors drift: new columns, renamed fields, or pipelines that introduce sensitive data without tags. It generates audit-ready reports and pushes tags back to the warehouse and catalog so downstream tools (BI, reverse ETL, access control) can act on them. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI helps classify and suggest tags, but the product is built around deterministic rules, approvals, and policy enforcement so it’s usable in regulated environments.
