PondPulse
PondPulse is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that helps frog and toad enthusiasts find the best nearby times and places to hear and record choruses. It combines weather, rainfall, temperature, moonlight, seasonality, and habitat layers to generate a “Call Likelihood” forecast for local ponds and wetlands. Users can log quick observations (species heard/seen, intensity, time) and optionally upload short audio clips. An AI model can suggest likely species from audio, but the core value is the forecast and location guidance, not perfect identification. The app also supports private “favorite sites,” trip planning, and simple community validation (upvotes/flags) to reduce bad data. Realistically, this won’t replace expert surveys, but it can make casual herping far more productive and help local groups coordinate outings without needing specialized knowledge.
