PondWeedID is a mobile AI app for pond owners and lake managers who need fast, practical identification of aquatic plants and nuisance algae—without wading through academic keys. Users snap photos (above-water and, optionally, underwater) and get a ranked ID with confidence, lookalikes, and a plain-language “what to do next” checklist. The app focuses on actionable management: whether a species is invasive in your region, when it typically blooms/spreads, and which control options are realistic (manual removal, shading, aeration, herbicide classes to discuss with a licensed applicator). It also logs sightings with GPS and time, letting users track spread and share a report with an HOA, contractor, or local extension office. This is not a magic bullet: image ID can be wrong, and treatment advice must stay conservative and region-specific to avoid liability.
