PortagePro is a mobile app for kayakers and canoeists that maps and rates portages (carry routes) between put-ins, take-outs, and lakes/river sections. Users log real-world portage details: distance, elevation gain, trail surface, obstacles (downed trees, mud, stairs), landowner access notes, and whether wheels are feasible. The app generates a “carry cost” score and suggests gear/packing adjustments (e.g., one-trip vs two-trip carry) based on boat type and load. It also supports offline maps, GPX import/export, and quick hazard reports so paddlers don’t discover a brutal carry at the worst time. This is not a generic route planner; it focuses on the most underestimated part of many trips—getting the boat and gear around barriers—using community data and lightweight AI to summarize and predict difficulty from past reports.
