PortCurrent

PortCurrent is a web + mobile app that turns complex ocean-circulation and tide/current model outputs into simple, operational guidance for harbormasters, pilots, and terminal operators. It ingests public forecast models (e.g., HYCOM, Copernicus Marine) and local tide gauges/ADCP feeds when available, then produces berth- and channel-specific current windows, cross-current alerts, and confidence scores. Users get a map view with vectors, a timeline of expected peak currents, and threshold-based notifications tied to their vessel classes and maneuver constraints. This is not a “pretty ocean map”; it’s a decision-support tool aimed at reducing delays, tug overuse, and near-miss risk. An AI layer summarizes “why” a risk is elevated (fronts, wind setup, river discharge) and generates shift-brief notes, but the core value is reliable, auditable forecasts and alerting.
