PortionPilot
PortionPilot is a mobile + web app (traditional + AI) that helps households and small meal-prep businesses stop wasting food by planning realistic portions and shopping lists based on what actually gets eaten. Users log meals quickly (photo, voice, or simple taps) and the app estimates consumption patterns per person, then suggests portion sizes and ingredient quantities for upcoming meals. It generates a “use-first” plan that prioritizes ingredients nearing spoilage and adjusts recipes to match what’s already on hand. The AI is used narrowly: to interpret meal photos into rough portion estimates and to adapt recipes without requiring perfect inventory tracking. The app also highlights the cost of waste in dollars per week, because that’s what changes behavior. It’s not a magic pantry scanner; it’s a practical planner that reduces overbuying and overcooking.
