PortMatch is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers identify exactly which cable, adapter, or hub they need for a specific device-to-device connection (e.g., “MacBook Air M2 to Dell monitor at 144Hz,” “iPhone to car AUX,” “PS5 to capture card”). Users select devices from a catalog or scan model numbers/barcodes, then choose the goal (charge speed, data rate, video resolution/refresh, length, budget). The app outputs a short, unambiguous shopping list with required specs (USB-C PD wattage, USB4 vs Thunderbolt, HDMI 2.1, DP Alt Mode, eMarker, etc.) plus “avoid” warnings for common traps. It links to verified products from major retailers and shows compatibility confidence. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional rules/spec tables for hard constraints, AI to interpret messy device labels and user intent. Realistically, it wins only if the compatibility database is accurate and kept current.
