PortPilot

PortPilot is a desktop app (Windows/macOS) for IT admins and power users who need reliable visibility into what devices are actually connected to endpoints—USB storage, HID devices, docks, serial adapters, and more. It continuously inventories connected peripherals, flags risky or unknown devices, and creates a simple audit trail (what was connected, when, for how long, and by which user). The MVP focuses on clarity and evidence: a clean device timeline, vendor/product identification, and exportable reports for incident response or compliance. It also includes lightweight policy rules (e.g., alert on new mass-storage devices, blocklist specific VID/PID pairs where supported). This is a traditional app with optional AI assistance for “device fingerprint” enrichment (explaining what a device likely is and why it’s risky) using a local/hosted model. It’s not magic—just practical visibility and accountability.
