PricePause is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers avoid fake discounts and impulse buys by using real price history and “buy/no-buy” timing alerts. You paste a product link (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and major Shopify stores) or scan a barcode in-store. The app tracks the item’s price over time, flags suspicious “was” prices, and notifies you only when the price drops below a threshold you set (or below a statistically “normal low” based on history). It also estimates the likely next discount window for seasonal items and big sales events, so you can decide whether waiting is worth it. Monetization is realistic: a freemium model with a paid tier for more tracked items, multi-store matching, and family/shared lists. The hard truth: you’ll need excellent data coverage and trust to compete, so start with a narrow set of retailers and do it well.
